Introduction

The Calgary Science School is a Calgary Board of Education-governed, publicly funded charter school offering a unique learning environment that inspires students to understand more fully the world in which they live. CSS provides students in Grades 4 to 9 with an enriched curriculum, infused with mathematics and science. Once students complete Grade 9, they continue on to a high school of their choice.

Although we teach the full provincial curriculum, our mandate is to develop innovative teaching approaches that will enhance public education. Within our school and beyond its walls, our teachers focus on meaningful issues and emerging technologies.

Learning through inquiry and a variety of rich, off-site experiences, students are excited, engaged and empowered. Ethical leadership is fostered through the exploration of relevant contexts honouring the connections between the sciences, mathematics, the arts and humanities.
